    Hi All

New to the site. I started marine in 1997. And then scrap the tank when we moved to a new house. But now i am ready to start again. I must say allot change with this hobby so please excuse if i ask realy dum questions. I got a 3ft 600 x 620 x 914 tank and so far nothing else. Need sump, lights and wave pumps and and and again. I've done some reading on forums and must say you are realy great thanks that's why i desided to regiter on the site.

    Cheers All

    Hello And Welcome

T5's will work. Tank not over 600mm deep.
    Any ideas on sump setup?

i think some guys may have been doing a bit of skim reading here ;)

your 3ft is not a std 3ft tank ..... do i understand it correctly in that it is 914 long 600 wide and 620 deep ???

If so i strongly reccommend the MH and T5 option, you will battle to illuminate light demanding corals with only 2 t5's .... a great option would be 2 x 150W mh (i would suggest 10 000k globes) and then 2 to 4 T5's mixture of blue and white ...

another option is 6 x 39w T5's .... that should do well as well

no easy answer..... and best to read up in the lighting forum on numerous threads there, but BASICALLY...... corals grow best under a lower spectrum (wave length) of light, but they dont look so good.... sps starts going brown etc, under higher spectrum lighting... actinics, 20 000k the corals look much better to us but the dont grow so much ..... that is why we reccommend a combination of globes ....;)

i would go two MH the same globes though... as for what type of globe i would say in the 10 000 range, but on globes i am no expert at all..... then use the blue T5's for the colour !
