Hi everyone

I live in Secunda in Mpumalanga. Started with a Nano reef a year ago, upgraded to a FO Predator tank December and just bought a 5ft tank for a reef setuf.

Welcome Vzyla, great to have you here:thumbup:

Firstly we would love pics of the current tanks :D
Then what have you got in mind for the Reef setup in terms of lighting, skimming, filtration, flow etc and we would love pics of that as well even if it is only and empty tank :D:D

Once again welcome and I hope you enjoy the forum:thumbup:

Kanga, so far i am planning the following:
Skimmer = ts2
Filtration = sump with live rock and "bucket DSB" (Still wondering about this one)
Lights = want to start with 4 80Watt T5's
When it comes to flow, i still have a lot of questions.

Welcome vzyla.

You got the right type of equipment on your list.

Flow - you need powerheads, I have had no problems with my Seio M1100. I run 4 on my 550L tank. Great flow, and no Cyno Bacteria.

Thanks Warr
Would 3 be enough for a 300l? What about the flow through the sump?

Also where i stay if you ask a dealer for a T5 Balast they tell you "sure, we sell them a lot", he then dissapear and comes back with a T8 or something. Any other way of explaining to them what i'm looking for?:whistling:

Great Skimmer:thumbup:
Just a DSB would be great too:)
Lights sound good start with 2 x 10 000k and 2 x actinic, there are some nice cheap units out at the moment I will try and find the name

Flow- Warr is right the Seio's are great bang for the buck 3 x M1100 would be fine in 300L I think that would be 13200L p/h if I remember correctly. Might even be a bit much depending on your substrate. Fine substrate could be blown about.

As for the ballasts go to a lighting or eletrical wholesaler, it where the LFS would be buying it in any event
