    You mean "arragonite"?

Very nice tank you have there, colourful and healthy - well done! Nice coral selection :)

Just a bit advice - can't remember if you posted us you water parameters, but if you have a high nitrate issue, then look at removing those ceramic rings in the sump as they can be the cause.
Do you mean the particle size is too big for a DSB? If that's the case then you need to make it deeper to get anearobic and anoxic activity - that is if there isn't any, otherwise the DSB will be useless.

BTW: How old is your tank already? Has it gone through it's first 6 months yet?

THANK YOU ALL, TOBES MY WATER PARAMETERS ARE AS FOLLOW PH 8.4- 8.2 NITRATE IS >5PPM NITRITE > 0.5 AMONIAC 0 SALT 1.023 CA 300PPM LOW ALKALINITY 8 TEMP 25. WHICH ceramic rings DID YOU SEE? ONLY LIVE ROCK I THINK WHAT YOU SEE IS OLD GALAXY CORAL THAT DIED, USES IT AS LIVE ROCK OR SHOULD I TAKE IT OUT?

JACQUESB THANK YOU, THE TANK IS 2.5 YEARS OLD NOW HAD A HAIR ALGE PROBLEM THAT STARTED A YEAR AGO AND STRUGGLED UNTIL NOW, HOPE THAT IS OUT NOW, I HAD BIO BALLS IN AND THAT CAUSED NITRATES DIDN'T GET A HIGH READING BUT THE HAIR ALGE PROBABLY USED IT.

THANKS FOR ALL THE COMPS WILL WANT TO SEE WHAT ALL YOUR TANKS LOOK LIKE,KNOW IT WILL BE VERY NICE!!!!!!

Looked like ceramic rings in the sump - sorry man, I must be getting old :p
If you're using pieces of live rock and coral skeletons in the sump it is cool - although coral skeletons can leach phosphates, it is nothing to worry about - especially not a small piece like that ;)
They can be good filters as well.

Nice Hermanus!!! Always wondered how a "sloping form one side to the other" tank would look... And I must say, it looks cool!!

    Just a question:

Your DSB, how deep is it? Seems very shallow... It should be minimum aprox 10cm deep... Sorry, the pic is difficult to judge.

Hi Jaco, it is 18cm deep, but it is small 23 x 20 and I used arragonite I think the pieces of arragonite is to big not fine like sand.
