Hi there ..

Started my first marine tank about 4 months ago .. never new it would be such an intense hobby. Had a few mishaps but learnt quite a bit ...

My tanks general specs are as follows :

tank dimensions 1000(w) X 500 (h) X 450 (d)

1200 l/h hang on protein skimmer with uv light
2000 l/h three cartridge cannister filter
2000 l/h power head
1200 l/h power head X 2

arogonite substrate with some crushed coral
20 Kg Kenyan live rock
3 Kg Fiji live rock (so far)

3 T8 light canopy - 2 white & 1 ascitic

Currently have 2 tube worms, 1 blue hermit crab, 1 dancing shrimp, 1 mini purple tip anenome. I also have 1 African Clown, 1 Coral Beauty, 1 Blue Damsel and 1 Blue Cheek Goby.

Major problem at the moment is that the goby is making the tank a bit dusty .. i will try to syphon some of the lighter particles at the next water change.

.... well it's great to finally get a chance to post

Welcome takumi.

2 white T8's are woefully underpowered for any sort of anemone... Are you sure they're T8 (1" diameter) and not T5 (thin ones)?

What model is the protein skimmer? It doesn't sound up to the job of skimming a tank that size. You'll find a more powerful skimmer will take care of the "dust" from the goby as well.

Love to see some pics of your setup. The goby can be quite messy, but he will keep that substrate totally pristine

A very warm welcome to MASA Takumi! Please read up on "starting marines" in our MASAPedia.

Everyone has already given some comments.

Could you please post some pics of everything you have? The skimmer? The sump - the lights, etc...

I just want to forewarn you - that african coris wrasse will become a MAJOR terror in your tank. Killing all your inverts. I know - been there, done that. Traded the fish in after 8 months.... Mine killed off just TOO many hermit crabs, snails and my starfish.

Hmmm probably true that... I noticed the odd hermit missing in my tank and mine was pretty small.

Hi there ..

Thanx for the feedback so far ...

They are definately T8's - but that's what the tank canopy came with - I want retro-fit a T5 in there in due course. My main objective at this stage is to get the tank a bit more stable ...

I have a African Clown - Allardi Clown - are we talking about the same fish - he does not seem to bother my crab ???

I have started to dowload some pics .. will try and post them later ...
