    Hi guys.

I'm new to MASA and been reading allot this past weeks.
I've always had freshwater tanks for as long as I can remember, but the whole freshwater thing is getting a bit boring now.
I would like to start a Marine Tank.

I've got a 1450x450x450 tank build out of 6mm glass and are heavily braced on bottom and top. Got a 3ft, 100L tank for a sump, can add another 100L tank if necessary.
I would like to know if I can use this tanks.

Thanks to the guys that are running this site, and also to the experts that are willing to lend their experiences and inputs to us newbees.

    masahello

I am sure you can make those thanks work for you. Post some pictures of the tanks so we can see. Might just need some type of overflow system for it to work.

Will post pics as soon as I can.
Do you think that I can drill 6mm glass for overflow. Know it is not tempered.

    Welcome :)
lol, I'm thinking about starting up a FW tank, some of those planted ones look really stunning.
As long as you haven't used copper medications in any of them then they should be fine, copper is deadly to a lot of marine inverts. I'm not sure if the tanks can be cleaned sufficiently to remove the copper, someone else may be able to help you on that if need be.

    Thanks Viper.
Had a exstra tank for sick fish. So did not use medications in big tank.

Thanks to Mala just recieved a ts4 skimmer.
Knew it was big, but its a monster. Will run it in a 400L system, but going to try and push it up to 600L.

If im not mistaken its rated for 1500L. Got 2 reef oct 3000 pumps. Already had to change my whole sump idea. Do not fit in the 3ft i intended to use as sump. So got it in a 70L addis container.

So sump will work as follows. Skimmer in 70L container connected to another 70L container for return pump. With return pump will be another smaller pump going to 3ft tank that would be split for dsb and refugium. Drain then back to container and get pumped to dt. By doing this, my total sump size went from 100L to 240L. Thus full system of 530L.
Do you guys think it could work?

Will post pics as I go along. Going to take my time with this.

As for the TS4 it was originally rated for 1500L but then revised down to a 1000L. It still is a good skimmer and still more than what your water volume is going to be. As for your sump I would rather have your second container feeding into the DSB/Refuguim and then return pump back to your display. That way you would be using your DSB to it's fullest.

Copy that EFJ. Still in planning phase. If i can manage to put devider in the second container, then that could become the DSB. Will use 3ft for refugium then.

Remember the bigger the surface area of your DSB the better it will work and the sand should be about 150mm deep. Another option could be bio-cubes, they work well with limited space issues. If in doubt ask around, MASA has plenty experienced people who can help.

    Given my tank dimensions, 1400*450*450
What lighting would you guys suggest.
I would want it to be a overall mixed reef system.

Ok, so will start to look around for light unit.

Got a Aqua jet 7000l/h pump that I want to use for a return pump. Will that be sufficient.
Will split water flow back to tank to cover more flow within tank.
