    Hi Dallag

Thanks for responding so soon.no expectatios
Just want to start with tank.talking to thpet shop owners
Those guys make you depressed with the
Prices that are so high to start from scratch
One guy wants to charge R 20000 to drill
A hole and set up tank with all equipment
And the other says R 3000 to do the same
With a proteam skimmer he says all I need
Is sump , cannister filter, salt, live rock @ 140 kg
Coral and he will supply water at R 7 a litre.
All costing R3000 is this correct.

    Hi

    Welcome, good luck.

Take a look at the "For Sale" section, you can get very good second hand equipment. Also take a look at the sponsor section, some good prices posted on Nano Tanks, but make sure you understand what can go in them from a coral/fish perspective.

Believe if you go second had route you can get around 100l tank for R3500, but shop around, I have seen people selling R20k setups for R5k. Skimmers are also cheaper now, but you generally get what you pay for.

Pico's are now selling for R1k, but you will be limited to a small selection, even with a pico skimmer. This is a good intro way, but you have to be religious about water changes, not overfeeding, top-ups.

I have seen two shops in Cape Town selling demo tanks of 200l with sumps (limited lights, no pumps and skimmers) for <R5k.

    Good hunting.

If only you came on here before you bought anything! Best advice: don't listen to the pet shop guys, they just want your money! Get advice from the experts here. We are not going to take your money lol. That pet shop sounds like they are milking you. You can get everything you need at a much better price in the forsale threads :) .. Please do research, ask questions and check out guys set ups before you buy anything else. Take things nice and slow so you dont waste any money.. Oh and welcome! :)

    Welcome ...

I'd say setup the 1.2 m as your display tank and use the 900mm as your sump.

Get some live rock on the forum, the guys sell for R60 - R70 p/kg.

    Good luck with your build

Welcome Bra!!! Hope you enjoy your build once you up and running. Remember to take it slowly and ask lots of questions before you spend unecessary crown.
    Cheers
