Hi Just4U - Welcome to MASA!

No - According to the Marine Resources Act it is not legal to sell any life-stock that you are allowed to catch/get from our oceans, to anyone else. You are allowed to catch fish for home aquarium use.

I am 98% sure (in my intepretation of the Marine Resources Act) that there's a loop-hole and that you are allowed to give it away - you are not allowed to TRADE in it though.....

Imported exotic marine ornamental fish - completely different story...

    Hi Just4U -

These are the fish that the fish shops usually sell.

It is a huge effort to get the import permit, and the fish must be imported in quite big quantities - so, it is not really always viable for an individual to do this. Unless you are actually thinking of starting a business with this. Then you should take into account having holding tanks, etc, as well as feed the fish and keeping them alive before you sell them.

This is it in a nutshell...

Hey just4u, the above pretty much sums it up, cannot sell local caught fish unless you have the correct permits and have never heard of one of these being issued. No problem selling the exotic stuff the problem is the amount of red tape to import them.
