Welcome to MASA...
thanks guys, got it started oct 09, lost a few fish but the tank seems to have stabilized. the initial tank was a 3ft but i got a bad deal so decided to spend a bit more and get quality. current specimens:
1x blue tang
1x jumping bean
2x hermit crabs
live coral (cant remember class)
1x cleaner shrimp
Anemone:nono: the rule of thumb....after 6 months....with 0 no3 for at least 3 of the 6 months
Your water needs to mature.
Tel us a bit more about your equipment you have?
welcome to masa its great to have you join, especially as we should be able to point you in the right direction so you dont get bad deals any more.
Pitty to hear about the loss of life in the beginning, most often thats due to rushing thinsg adn having fish or Live stock in water thats not ready. Im afraid that also applies to nennies and as lanzo says you really shouldnt have a nennie in there yet
what sort of equipment do you have, maybe a pic of the tank and sump will help and lets see if we can give any advice on how to make it your dream tank
welcome and happy postings.
PS that WAS diplomatic wasnt it???
Welcome to MASA!! Hope to see some pics of your system soon!
Welcome to MASA…...
We would love some pics.
Welcome to MASA , your in good hands now !!
Thanks crispin, very diplomatic indeed
wish i had signed up here before starting my tank, thanks for all the great welcomes!!!
will put up some pics of my system soon...
hehe thats not my strongest point, i normally serve my opinions with a firey dose of chilli
lets see your tank and lets see if we can help get things running a little smoother and better for both the tank mates (thats the priority from my side of a screen) and yourself
out of interest can you describe what filtration systems you use. All of it, from mechanical (skimers etc) to biological (dsb, alge scrubbers, macro algae, refugium etc) and chemical (carbon, phosphate remover etc) If thats all sounding a little complicated dont stress we can break it all down into managable pieces of info over time, but it would be good to know what you have that will help handle the N cycle.
my original equipment which i purchased from a pet store is currently being replaced, i've been in contact with a guy that specializes in aquariums, said he will supply me with "TS1" skimmer and not sure brand of the return pump, suggestions?
my equipment has no brands on it but replacing them very soon, all were purchased from a pet store & it's now clear to me that most of these guys have little or no real knowledge of aquariums & are just there to make a quick buck!
Just confirmed with my aqua guy, getting a TS1 Skimmer, Hayley Return Pump and a blower all at R2900.00, am I getting a good deal guys?:baffled:
Ts1 skimmer is good
Are you getting a hx6530 return pump?
And what flowpump are you getting the make?
