Something we see from time to time and is the second one living in my top tank, that's a pair now, the other is a male.

This is a semi rare scabricaudatum of the microprothema species of robust boxer shrimp.
This weird young lady usually lives symbiotically with bearded scallops, yuck what a life!
They don't care how they live, when not under threat.

I think they are found all over the place?

It’s other nick name is lima shrimp and there is near no info on them, they don’t even realise we get the red ones here in Aus as well.
They are symbiotic with bearded scallops and they don’t know that in a non-predator environment, they live happily with out the scallop.

There is near nothing known about them, for some reason?
I saw maybe ten of them last weekend and this one was coloured up and not with a scallop, so it came home with me and that’s the one I took a pic of, but i thought they were just a type of squat lobster, just common rubbish?
I have only seen one in a relationship with a scallop, the others were always on a specific species of sponge.
I love the way they take off, they swim just like a slipper lobster, in fact that’s why I thought they were a squat lobsters until a guy on reef central told me about the red ones that are coming on the market over there and i found out what this one was from there.
The red semilaeve are mean and nasty, they are more so hunters unlike the scabricaudatum, but that’s what I have found.
I see heaps of them and I have used them as fish food before and I have what I thought was a male for a while now, but it seems they are hermaphrodites-both sexes in each like the lysmata, both have green in their carapace now from one having no apparent green that indicates ovaries, I hope my little camouflage patterned pistol shrimp doesn’t kill them.
The pistol is a shocker with peps.
If they were squats I wouldn’t care!
I think they sell the red ones here.

Here is some not great info on them, but then again there isn’t much info on them anyway.
