Great come back. What's the plans for nutrient export, upflow ATS again? Or something different.

I was given some Fauna Marin Bacto Reef Balls to test out (thanks @JS).

I think I will give it a year on this method and see how things go.
If it works well I will most likely continue with it however if I go back to a scrubber I will use a waterfall type one rather than the upflow version.

What is your reason for that? Salt creep?

For some reason I experienced minimal salt creep, luckily

However two things I noticed that became a bit of a nuisance:

1 - once the screen matures the algae gets a grip on the glass.

This blocks quite a bit of light from getting to the screen.

You now also have an extra mat of algae to clean and the algae bits breaking off gets into the main tank

2 - the light spill accelerated the growth of coraline algae on equipment and fuels the growth of the algae bits that broke off and got stuck on a cord or something similar

Don't get me wrong the upflow works like a bomb, maybe if you
tweak the design you could address the "issues"

Yes, floating upflow algae scrubber like the surf 4 or surf 8 would cure those issues. Self-contained unit with no attachment to glass

The tank has hit the two month mark

    Current inhabitants are
    2 x chalice corals
    2 x torches
    1 x open brain coral
    1 x digi

So far the tank has been running smoothly without any major problems.

The plan for the next two months:

    - clean up the display. I have some algae on the sand and rocks

    - Implement carbon dosing

    - Setup doser for alk and ca

    - Add an additional rock or two to the scape to increase real estate

    - And maybe add a fish or two

I must say, I really love your scape! You have also spaced your corals well unlike mine where the frags are almost ontop of each other... :m15:
