I have used a Jebo AP300 pump to supply water to my cryptic zone filter. I do not have an idea how much water it can pump but I am absolutely sure it could not be close to 300l as the model number suggests. My guess is that it could about 80 l per hour. Well this pump packed up and I now have no water flow through the filter.

Firstly I would like to find out where I would find a small pump not more than2cm x 2.5cm x 2. cm. I do not have space for a much bigger pump and the return is 2 x 8 mm pipes that can in itself not handle a lot of water.

Secondly I would like to know how long whatever is in this fairly new filter would survive without flow.

My CZ filter is about 35l, how much flow can one put through a filter that size?

    I doubt you will find a pump with those dimensions (2cm X 2.5cm X 2cm).

The smallest one I know of is the mini tunze 5024.040.

If Moolis can't help you I know you can get a whole variety of cheap pumps from Builders Warehouse, they had extremely small pumps there as well, probably about 3cm's x 3cm's, really tiny fiddly little things. Don't know if you have a Builders Warehouse in Mposa village though. :p

You make me very sad, a bigger pump will mean another plan is to be made and that is one thing more that could go wrong.:(

Please contact my wife and tell her a bigger tank is an absolute necessity.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you are going to start having bacteria die-off after about 4 to 6 hours due to oxygen deprivation. Try and get an airpump in there, any form of water movement will help.

Thank Dean, will put the air in now and I should make the Builders branch in a day's travelling. I was hoping you have turned into a motivational speaker and talk my wife into buying me a bigger setup.
    ;)

I have found a reasonably small pump that fits in the space for it but the flow is too high. I have restricted flow by inserting a airline tube into the pipe to the filter and it works for now. I have a feeling the restriction is going to block up and the pump shaft is not going to last cos it is metal. Will call you George.
