    Hi All

I seem to have a very sick clown in my tank. Last weekend I was away and one of my clowns just vanashed. I put it down to the fact that it died and the hermits got hold of it.

But I also noticed that the other one now seems to have white spot and it has some sort of growth on it as well. It does not seem happy and has been at the bottom corner of the tank for 2 days now. The clowns are about 3-4 weeks old (From lfs). My parameters all seemed fine. I will take them again tonight and post them. The other fish (5 green chromis, 1 lawnmower blennie) are all in good condition and eating like pigs. The clown was eating well too but it seems he is getting weaker. Please will you advise me on what to do and what the growth is. It is greenish in color and almost looks like a small twig or some thing.

Maybe if there is a experinced reefer in centurion or near that can come and check out my setup and my routine etc etc to make sure I am on the right track I would be very appreciative if they could help.

Kevin - what size is your tank again? Would it be possible to catch the fish (the clown)?
If so, do so.... place the fish in a temporary container, filled with some old tank water, and an airstone / airpump....
Dose some iodine to the water (a little bit at a time), and also soak the food you feed the fish, in some multi-vitamins and freshly crushed carlic...

Hope the clown pulls through.... good luck...
PS: also keep the container in a darker area - without too much bright light on it.

jacquesb it is a 4foot tank. I should be able to catch the clown because it is quite slow at the moment.Ok i think I will give that a try today and see what happens. How often should I change the water?

It looks like your clown has got itself a dose of ich aggravated by fin rot. Do you have a quarantine tank? Get yourself a product called Octozin which you can use in a QT tank or the main display. If you use the main display you will need quiet a bit and its expensive. If you cant get it PM me and I will sort you out with some. I'm in Honeydew

I do not have a QT tank but I am going to see if I can sort out a container of sorts to act as a QT tank. The only thing I need to know is how often to change the water. But I guess that would depend on the amount of water in the QT container?

You wont need to change the water and it's a three day treatment. You will need a biological filter to prevent ammonia developing

I will. Just keep an eye on your ammonia and nitrite. Change the LR every day or so

Hey FransSny It is still not looking good. I have to go and get the meds today so I will only be able to give it to him tonight. But it did not eat this morning so I am hoping it will survive till I get home with some meds this afternoon. Thanks for the tank and all the advice yesterday.
