    Hi Guys

Need help please I found one of these nasty’s in my tank last night. I see on some of the treads I can use vinegar for it. I only have the one. How do I go about removing it.
Can I take the rock out of the tank and squirt some vinegar on it? How many times do I have to do it?

Use a syringe with needle and inject directly down its mouth, if it's on the one rock, it's sure to be elsewhere...

Not too much, I think the safe amount of vinegar allowed in your system should be 1ml for every 100L but I stand correct, maybe @RiaanP can advise better?

    Hey @JDV

Get some Joe's Juice and nuke it! :yeahdude:

You can also use vinegar...you will need to inject them with it with a syringe...

I had a few small ones in my tank that dissapeared after I added some local dwarf hermits and Blennies...don't know if they sorted it out or if it was just coinsidence....but they are gone never the less...lol

The standard dosage is 1 ml per 100L water. On avg I can kill 3 aiptasia with 1 ml.

immediate, if you're aiming for it's mouth, you gotta be quick otherwise it just retreats and your efforts would be wasted...

Just a tip... If it is in the middle of some zoas or other colonies, try to gently coax the colonies into closing up, this should give you a better view of the "stem" and the angle you should use.

Also, the 1ml insulin syringes with needle available from the pharmacy works wonders to improve your aim on small ones.

Kalkwasser paste works well too. I use a 50/50 mixture of kalk and caustic soda. Only use caustic soda if you know what you're doing though, it's very powerful stuff and it'll damage anything it touches (including human skin).

Remember, it is a carbon source, so be careful. If your sponges does not look happy, then slow down. Skip a day or two.

With the insulin injection, that needle is so thin. Even if the mouth is closed up, just insert the needle into the base filling him up with vinegar.

Take the rock out and cover the spot where the aptasia was (it will retract and not be visible) with a kalk paste. Mix kalkwasse and water to a tooth paste like consistancy. You will never see the aptasia again, and the kalk paste will be good for your system from an alkalinity and calcium point of view.

Yes, it raises your alkalinity and calcium levels which you will need to maintain if you want to keep any form of lps or sps coral, clams too.

Its also good for a fish only set up, as high alkalinity buffers against ph swings which stress the tank inhabitants out.
