    Hi all,

Last week Monday I switched my skimmer off to dose Herbitana in my tank.
So it has not run for 7 days. This afternoon I did a big water change. Drained the skimmer and cleaned the skimmer cup.

I fully opened the flow valve on the skimmer. Switched on the pump supplying water to the skimmer and switched on the skimmer.

The problem is that the skimmer cup keeps on filling up with water.
It is almost if the skimmer can't release the water back as fast as it should.

I made double sure the flow valve is open.

    Please help.

    Regards,
    Lean

could just be a reaction to the additives, run the skimmer without cup for a while alternitivley let it skim wet and keep discarding the wastewater untill it subsides. perhaps run a little carbon in addition to all this.

    Thanks guys!
Just to make sure, im filling a 500ml bottle in 2min. Should I discard this or can I put it back in my tank? The water looks like natural clear water, no dirt.

Discard the water. Make sure you replace the water from the cup with salt water so you dont mess your salinity up

yep tony nailied it, it will subside once the majority of the additive is out, it may take a bit of time to do so so just keep your top up water handy and keep an eye on salanity. it could pull as much as 20lt out before it settles so be prepared..

Thanks for the advice all! Appreciate it.

Still have about 50L of NSW left from my water change.

I added chemi-clean, but did 'n huge water change 3 weeks ago. Then I did the Herbitana and another huge water change.

Will run a 25L drum on the skimmer and get this sorted ASAP.

    Thanks again all!

2 make life easier , leave skimmer off longer while running carbon, the carbon should remove 90% of the meds, then after few days you shouldn have that problem

Ya, put it in a high flow area tho, an be sure to add corect amount for your tank volume in order for it to be most effective, a day or 2 should clean ur water completely, then all back to normal

    Ok, so what is wrong?

I just spent 2 hours and it is not getting any better!

I placed a 25L drum next to the skimmer, and skimmed out 75L of water in 2 hours!!!
I replaced the water with NSW so SG is in place.

Just a note, I did not run carbon, never got around to it.
