    Dear All

I spend my Sundays reading posts on this site.
Cheaper than buying novels and way better!
Some threads have made me laugh and well some have made me really sad.
But most of all they have made me want to start my own reef aquarium.
So today I took the first step and registered!
I live in Port Elizabeth and even though I have read many articles I still don’t know where to begin.
Where can I purchase a tank or have a tank built I am not keen on these fish shop tanks, sorry guys maybe you can persuade me otherwise.

    Welcome to MASA!!!

Before you buy a tank, decide what you would like to keep (ie, fish only, soft coral etc ect). Best to take things slowly in this hobby and to plan things from the start. What size tank are you considering getting?

Check out the For sale threads, sometimes you'll be lucky and find a full system for sale, or else, get someone to build you a tank- the way you want it.

Btw, welcome to Masa- Officially

Nice artwork, but you'll see that the artwork above the tank resembles bubbles, as well as the fact that the three colors used, was to blend the Tv Lounge with the Fishtank lounge and the dining room, whereas the Painting you posted, resembles glasses, and does not have any reference to the tank, hence me asking the Artist to create something to bring everything together.
Btw, as for artists, I am a huge Thijs Nel and Ulrich de Balbian fan, and for sculptures, you can give me Maureen Quinn any day of the week

welcome to masa, nice to have you join :)

starting a tank is a fantastic adventure but its realy important to plan propperly, so many people waste money on innapropriate tanks or equipment and have to upgrade or sell it off later.

plan what you want to keep and design a system around the size space youy have available:) for example, if u like tangs, get a tank thats big enough with appropriate filtration for their needs. but if its small goby's and shrimps you like then nano tanks are great. simply see what it is that you want to achieve and go for that. Sketch what you plan and run it through the think tank of masa first, so much experience on here and we will do all we can to help you achieve the best possible tank:)

then have a look at this fella, greatest sculpturist ive ever seen. and hios marine fish sculputes are fantastic :)Dietmar Wiening - bronze, bronze sculpture, bronze statue, marine life, marine, bird, ocean animal, plant, water plant, animal, ocean, ocean life, sculpture, sculptor

Hello and welcome salty donut. Like all the guys said, its all about planning what you want and design your tank accordingly. Go to the forum threads, there you'll find EVERYTHING. You can talk to oom hennie, if youre a DIY guy talk to Leslie Hempel and then theres other guys like viper ect ect ect.... All the guys whos been at this for a long long time.

After the planning comes reading, reading, searching the web, asking advice on the forums, and, uuhm, did I mension reading. In my work we believe that the only stupid question is a question thats unasked, and bthe same goes here. theres really guys that know what theyre doing, and if you ask a question, everybody will be more than willing to help, PROMISE. take your time designing and building your tank, but most importantly, have fun.

Hope to see your own thread on your tank build...
And a warm welcome to you.(THE BUG BITES AGAIN...)
