    Good Day All,

I need advice, on how strong / weight a second floor of a house can handle? Was told 1.5 ton/square meter...

Reason, I`m building a new tank and I only got space for it on the second floor...

The floor was laid with pre-cast concrete slabs...

Can anyone tell me plus minus how much my entire build will weigh?

Water without sump will be around 660L = +-600kg's at room temp.

What size will your sump be? How thick is the glass you're using? Steel frame?

Best way to check is if you get 100 people to all jump on a bed upstairs at once

U should have no problem aslong as the construction was built according to plan and used the correct material. I would even risk it if the contruction was done poorly (I'm sure that's not the case) just to reinsure that u should be ok

Can anyone tell me if this info is correct?

According to the building regulators, all second floors must be able to handle 1.5ton/ square meter?

Then you will have 100 people on a bed in the lounge on the lower level

Upstairs big tanks are always a mission - think of all the carrying up and down stairs when you do water changes....

But at 1500kg/m2 as a limiter, I'ld not build a tank deeper than 50cm - to be on the safe side (although theoretically if the tank is above the sump, the combined water levels should not go over 1m (giving you the 500kg/m2 for glass/substrate/rocks/... weight.
