Hey guys. Quick question. I have these 2 skimmers but i can only keep one and need to sell the other again. The one is an Aquaria skimmer and the other is a ts2.

The Aquaria i was told is rated up to 800L. It has a 2000L/h pump one. It just looks so small against the ts2 so dont know if its really for 800L but thats me. Positive is that this skimmer fits into my first chamber.

The ts2 is rated for 500L and some places says 700L. It has a brand new hailea 1750L/h pump. It doesnt fit into first chamber of my sump.

which one do i choose as both i have heard skims excellent

    please help

@Fraser W used the AQUARIA skimmer for almost a year with no problems at all ... good skimmer IMO and if it fits in your sump go for it

I understand but does the size of the skimmer matter? Like i said the aquaria i was told is for 800L and ts2 for 500L but the aquaria one is smaller? Does that mean anything?

in my opinion they are almost the same size if you measure up to where the skimmer neck starts.. the difference is that the TS has a longer neck which only means that you can skim much dryer if you want... i think the size of the skimmer is determined by the pump size and the air intake per hour not necessarily by the body size

its not about the size of the dog in a fight... its about the size of the fight in a dog :)

yes of course... another thing you can look at is the impeller each pump uses.. pinwheel vs. normal flat impeller... the pinwheel will break the bubbles better than the other one but in my opinion it requires to be cleaned more often. but as for choosing between these two skimmers i don't think it will make much of a difference. i have never seen the TS in action so cannot say much about it, the AQUARIA however i have personally seen many times and it does a great job.. my mates tank was about 200L at the time he was using it

in that case i would go with the AQUARIA skimmer since it will not require you to modify your sump.. the other up side is that you will probably get more money for the TS skimmer :) which is never a bad thing

Wow what great response. I sent Lawrence an email to verify the skimmer size and within 2minutes he phoned me and explained everything to me. What a great experience. Thanks @Aquaria-SA Lawrence

Im using an aqauria skimmer and I am very happy. Does it have a sicce pump ? They are silent. If you need to skim drier, just raise the skimmer with some egg crating. I also chose the Aquaria above the TS2 and I dont regret it. Tried both, but Aquaria came out tops.

No it has a porpoise pump but that can be replaced down the line.

I found thd aquaria skimmer to be very very good produced some very dark looking skimmate and can run very wet or very dry dependant on what you require the same time reasonably quite I would definitely recommend the skimmer for anybody starting up a tank under 600 liters thats what my skimmer was rated for not too sure on model number but can check the invoice

    Only know the Ts2
Ive used the Ts2 on 3setups already, and my brother currently also using one of my old ts2 skimmers.

Brilliant. Ja you probably do get better but remember the price also gets better.
Why not do a test run with both. Run each for a week and feed the same and see which one seams to work the best in your opinion.

Small foot print is nice but it must be able to do the job.

If you dont have a setup that's running yet try and google to see what some reefers reviews are of the 2.

    Good luck bud.

Thanks bud but not much about the aquaria on the web apart from the reefers feedback. I know the ts2 is great but due to the aquaria fitting in nicely with the whole setup it is the winner. Now i can help another reefer out with a skimmer
