i filled up my tank yesterday with great joy, but spent the whole night not sleeping because thaught my ttank leaking half the time and the rest of the time the noise was just irritating. I usually dont mind water noise but this is just too much. can anyone help me with what i can do to make it better.

The red is water movement and the blue is were sound of a waterfall is generated.

i have a standard odurso overflow in the tank, but if u stand above the tank there very little noise so the noise must be coming from these spots. any idee how to make the noise less?

here is a view of the full system.

    The pipe outside going up.
Fit an airline pipe with valve on it. Adjust until the sound is acceptable.

I had the same issue with my overflow. It is the water mixing with air in the pipe that makes the noise. The only way to get around it is to add a ballvalve on the pipe leading into the bottom tank. Then close the ballvalve to back the water up in the pipe as high as you can toward the T piece. This will make it dead silent. Just make sure that the water can still flow out of the top tank as quick as what the pump pumps it in.

Yip, So you can control the air entering. Same concept as airline valve on the durso.

You can add the ballvalve idea. But be carefull, that nothing else goes down the pipe that can block it. Else you will have a nice high waterfall in your room.

I agree with Riaan, ballvalve option not the best imo.

also, once you have put a cabnet in place it will help.
