Jaco try this, the np pellets are like 2-3mm thick so you could use plastic mesh quite easily without it obstructing the flow or clogging up too easily. The only trick is getting the right pump rating to ensure suspension.
Thank you pads... Yes, I thought of that design... I think I must overkill on the pump and have a valve on it, that way I can adjust flow right...???
I think a perspex sheet with holed in it should do the trick for the mesh, or is there other gardening type of stuff that will work better (cheaper)?

Gardening stuff is cheap and no drilling necessary, but after looking at the you tube vid I'd probably make one of those. Looks better, although it does the same thing. I'd go with a 1500-2000l/h pump and then use a tap as you've mentioned. Good Luck!
Jaco at the end of the day make sure nothing can get stuck in there. I've noticed things clog up there sometimes.
