I have my canister in pieces and began to rinse my first bag of chemi pure elite and wow the water is coming out like mud even after like 5 serious washes. Is this normal ? I am worried if its ok.

KSSquared - it is the detritus that is getting trapped between the particles of the Chemi-Pure Elite.... Good thing that you are rinsing it out....

It is the active carbon, nothing to worry about.

KSSquared - you have 2 threads with exactly the same question/topic. Can I close this one perhaps?

HHmmm - ok - then. I agree with Shaun. It is MOST likely the activated carbon that is giving off dust...... Nothing to worry about then...

BUT, if you read the instructions, you will see that they say you should rinse it with fresh water before placing it in your tank.....

The amount that comes out depends on how it has been treated in transport. The more it has been tossed around the more dust.
