Hey guys, need some help please. I got a small zoa colony+- 15 heads in this week.
I started to notice some white spots on them and some just stopped opening, and with that I have 2 mushrooms (one ricordia I think and n hairy mushroom)
both of them flourished but noticed them not opening as they used to, the one looks flat and wilted this morning (picture was taken this morning before lights on. ) everything else seems to be doing well

The only thing that changed recently is that my matrix in my diy reactor with a 750lph pump was connected(matrix just used to sit in the sump. ) and some days I forgot to switch off my refugium light in the day.

    pictures will follow

    please help

Your temp has fluctuated a bit too much. Mushrooms opening their mouth like that is normally caused by temp fluctuations and i do mean a degree or two over a day. I had the same thing, remember its not as cold any more so check your heater turn it down a bit and see. Mushrooms do not like temps over 26.

my temp if around 26 to 28 my heaters are set at 26 and I read that a bit higher temp increases coral groth. tried it and the mushrooms was happy for a while. about a month now. and the temp is always in the green.
might it be that my salinity might be off as I cannot test for that have a thermometer that floats and sat if your salinity might be a bit out .

That zoa's is covered with slime, decease, I had it once, you will loose all and any that is close to them, coral dip them and use a soft brush, if you don't have coral dip then use ro water with a soft brush.

You will see you will loose some heads while cleaning, the best is to QT them not to get any of that zoa decease on your other zoas. Let the pro's first post something but I know that look.

I think you need to get the parameters tested. Something is not 100%.

And maybe bring that temperature down. Are you sure the thermometer is actually right? Ever tested it against others?

Those are known for poor accuracy and floating hydrometers are temp sensitive , I think normally calibrated for 26 deg C . So need to be sure that your water temp is spot on.

Maybe see if someone can double check salinity for you ;-)

That I think was the problem to start with. Silverwolf came to my rescue and is helping me with my salinity issues and some tests. Started taking out water last night and replacing RO will test this afternoon so that I can bring the salinity back to par.
