Hi i am revamping a tank, which i now bough a sump for. @butcherman....i have some plumbing that i need a guys help on as i have never done this before. I also need a skimmer in sump rated for at least a 400l, it's a 4ft tank in cabinet, also want to know opinions on adding a dsb or not? Or perhaps just adding a topup box of some sort. So looking for experienced feelow reefers to please help me out this weekend if possible. Meal and snax will be provided. I want to get the tank running and cycling as soon as possible ..pleaaaaasseee:whistling::blush:

TS2 should be fine. Biocubes instead of DSB.

    What's the issue with plumbing?

Ok this is the picture...i have a 4ft brand new drilled tank which fits on top of a cabinet (cabinet not drilled as yet). I bought a big pipe pvc with some fittings (think they call it weir) but still need to get 20mm pvc i was told. I got the glue just need someone to help me plump this tank the way things should be. Also some advise as to what to put into the sump for filtration

Where is the tank drilled? How big is the hole? Have you got pics?

You need to organise some form of surface skimming.

Tank is drilled in the left back corner with a box like thing around it. Standard Exotic pets marine tank.

You will need a PVC bulkhead to fit the hole. Have you got any returns set up yet?

Ok i bought a return set up with the tank ...so think that is what the almost 2m long thick pvs pipe with bends ect is for. So basically i will need the plumbing done for the sump and i was thinking to run the sump on the right hand side of the cabinet and an extra top up unit on the left side..there is a wooden support in between but a whole drilled already for some pluming from one side of the bottom cabinet to the other.
This is what the cabinet looks like

hi zandy, got a picture of the drilled tank? especially the overflow section. also what plubing do you hve already?

you can run this tank on a TS2 id also skip the DBS, as it will be to small to be effective, NP pellest or cubes with live rock would be a great way to go.

@dallasg will be away for a week, and I am snowed under with work at the moment.

you have most of what you will need. a plastic ball valve and a union might prove useful
