    Hi all! :wave2:

I am new to marine aquariums. I have always loved them but never started one. I have had a tropical aquarium for a few years and I am planning on starting a marine aquarium later this year.

I have tons of questions and would appreciate all the help I can get!

I have done some research and from what I can gather it seems quite tricky working with a marine setup. Before I even start one I want to make sure of the do's and don'ts.

I am looking at the Buyo T550 for a beginner tank. I have spoken to a few LFS and people with marine setups and so far most say that it is a good tank for a starter setup.

    Livestock id like to keep:
    Ocellaris Clownfish X2
    Haddon's Carpet Anemone
    Blue Eye Royal Dottyback X2
    Sea anemones
    Sea cucmber
    Live Rock

I have no idea if these can all go together and would greatly appreciate some pointers as of what to keep.

    Thanks so much!!

    Welcome to MASA!

Boyu is a good starter tank.
That selection of livestck wont work in a boyu. Carpet anemones get big, need lots of light, eat fish, are hard to keep etc...If you new to the hobby id advise to stay away from any anemone for a while.
You can keep clowns without an anemone.
Two dottybacks is a bad idea. They really agressive and one will most likely end up killing the other. They also need to be added last otherwise they will harass any new tank mates.

I would suggest keeping clownfish and some coral for now. Best piece of advise I can give you is research your stock before you buy it. The next best piece of advise stock wise is don't buy damsels, even if given to you for free. Most become problematic after a while.

Good luck and hope you enjoy this hobby! :)

    Hello stacey

a TL550 is a nice size tank to start with. Although it could do with a much better skimmer in my opinion. There are a lot of TL550 setups here on MASA and even got their own subforum.

    The livestock choices you listed,
Ocellaris Clownfish X2 - Yes, great
    Haddon's Carpet Anemone - NO
Blue Eye Royal Dottyback X2 - Maybe 1
    Sea anemones - No
Sea cucumber - No, tank not big enough
