WELL as the new :biggrin:green :slayer:banana in reeftown i am glad to say Hi:yeahdude:.
I am a new marine hobbist. We started setting up a 75gal reef aquarium in April. My roomate and myself put tons of labor in building our own canopy and stand. We have become very wellknown at our local home depot store rain or shine nothing keep us from getting our stuff from there.

Well as DIY apprentice carpenters/ plumbers & newbie aquarist. The hobby is taking its toll in our finance and time. As everyone here knows that nothing compares to the satisfaction of having built your stuff. But so far since consulting this site with many questions I am very confused with everything. Some people say and agree on things and at the same time others disagree but many advise have helped me along the way to get me where I am now. My 75gal is in it's 1st wk of cycling.

I've made friends with several local aqarium store owners and again they all have their own opinions which makes decision taking very difficult. But anyways let me take care of my problems on my own and as always I hope to count on YOU GUYS FOR SOME ADVISE EVEN IF CONTRAVERSAL. Thanks for listening and welcoming into your house.

welcome to masa and the wonderful world of marine aquariums. its a facinating hobby and while opinions might differ with the way to achieve certain aspects, the principles around keeping good water quality are pretty static. so take your time and learn the Nitrogen cycle and then break it down into stages as to how you will help the filtration cope with each aspect of it. once you have a system that YOU understand and can maintain propperly you;ll find that most of the 'contraversy' is actually reefers arguing the same points from different angles depending on whats worked for them.

i am not sure what the quality of information from LFS's in the States is, but i would trust an open forum well before i trusted any lfs, having the co9llective brain of masa give you advice over something opposed to listening to one person seems like a good trade to me:)

    welcome and happy postings

Hey and welcome to MASA! As you have learned there is no one sure fire way of starting a marine tank. Everyones has their own way of doing it. It all just depends on you at the end. You make the choices and you learn from your mistakes.
