Please assist me in identifying my new tank mate! i do apologise as the quality of the pic is not clear due to the speed of the sucker.

The most common shrimp hitch hickers are Mantis shrimps which in general are a no no.

Looking forward to the pic and lotsa details about your system .

A VERY WARM WELCOME to MASA, Zuv! Great to have you on-board! I really hope that you enjoy your time here with us!

Please tell us more of your tank? How long have you had it running for now?

PLEASE take note of the following things, if you want to be a successful reefkeeper:
    - You MUST have a LOT of PATIENCE!
    - You have always come here and ask our opinions, before purchasing ANYTHING from any local fish store / pet shops (LFS) - we don't have any financial gain in giving you good advice..... we only have the best interest of the lifestock you keep, in mind
    - PLEASE READ A HUGE AMOUNT...... and READ SOME MORE..... knowledge is your ABSOLUTE BEST weapon to ensure that you will be successful in keeping marine lifestock.

Remember: the seas/oceans are millions of years old - the reefs as well. We are trying to recreate this in a few weeks/months/years in our homes. In a small glass box...
    Please keep this in mind....

Good luck, and enjoy the journey into keeping marines! It is fantastic!

Welcome to MASA Zuv, hope you enjoy it here with us. Please read the link in my signature for great beginner info.
This is a very fascinating hobby with a huge reward, BUT patience is required as only bad things happen quickly.
Please tell us more about yourself (if you want to) and your setup? Size, how long it's been running, equipment used, etc etc.
    And those pics... :whistling:

Hi Zuv - that is indeed a mantisshrimp. You would best try and catch that critter. Put it in your tank's sump, or advertise it... or perhaps start a pico tank for it...

What's a piece of spinach doing wedged into the life rock, mate? ;)

hey zuv welcome to masa:) great to have you here and brillinat to hear that you are off on your cycle period already. Now to sit back and let the good bacteria settle and multiply so that the nitrogen cycles can get into ballance:) Time is all you need and a few test kits :)

tell us a little about the tank, what size, what equipment so on so forth and lets see if there are any changes you need to do now before the cycle is over and you start adding LS:)

you wanna catch that mantis shrimp and put it in a sump or give it to another reefer, nasty fellas and hell to catch once your reef is established:) get him now if you can :)
