Hello to you all!:wave2:
I’m all new to this hobby and site:thumbup: I must say I’m the happiest person at this moment right now….For the past two years now I’ve been dreaming to set up an aquarium and start this hobby until last week where I bought an 2nd hand tank for a bargain!! The previous owner relocated. But I must say that there is an algae problem in the tank:(, but I’ll sort it out. For the past 6 weeks I’ve been doing research on the net and reading books ‘Saltwater Aquariums For Dummies’ and ‘Michael S. Pqletta the new marine aquarium’ and came down your site when I googled ‘ALGEA PROBLEM’ I read some of the site forums and decided to register as you guys are the pro’s and I need some advice.
The tank consists of the following:
·4 feet tank with cabinet
·Two heaters only using one

·2 Brown corals and 1 type of mushroom
·1 Clown fish,2 Blue Damsel fishes,1 Yellow Tang,2 Pajama Cardinal fishes and 1 brownish with white stripes fish (Don’t know the name)
·1 Bristle Starfish,1 Shrimp and 3 Crabs
·Gravel
·2 in tank pumps causing current
·Protein skimmer (JABO)
·Phosphate pump
·Chiller
·Water purifier
·Test kit ph/ammonia etc
·Salinity scope

sounds like a good setup, the algae is normal as the tank is cycling due to the move...

WELCOME!!!! You will find this hobby absolutely stunning!!! Two words of advice though. One is if in doubt - ASK!!!! Second - run both heaters, if one fails the other is there for backup. Its difficult to know when heaters pack up, so its better. Some guys have 4 / 5 of them.

But enjoy every moment of this!!!

Great, those are hermit crabs !!! excellent for a reef tank....

Word of caution here..... ONLY BAD things happen quickly in reefing ...... take every step slowly ..... and please ask questions on MASA, there is no such thing as a dumb question, every hurdle you hit the guys here will do everything in their power to help you over !!!
