I am not new to the game of fish tanks but definitely new to Marine fish tanks. I hope that I can really depend on getting expert advice and run my system successfully and sharing knowledge between and with other members. I live in Durbanville Cape Town.

You need to start a thread with your tank, would like to follow its progress as you build on it :)

Well I always wanted a marine tank. I have decided this December 2013 in doing just that and got it "To Dad From Dad". I soon realized that I am very passionate about it and started spending money like crazy. I bought a Boyu TL550 and must say, I am happy at the moment. However, I am already planning a much larger tank, the difference is that I want to do it all myself. Build the tank and the cabinet, lights and everything. However, this will be a long term project. Must also say that my wife is just as passionate as I am about the new tank.

Is there a special section to start the thread for a new tank?

Welcome @KAPNEL! You are definitely going to enjoy this game a lot better than freshwater tanks... Alot (probably most) of the members here on masa also started with bathwater tanks, & then went over to marines (including me, lol) & never looked back!
The quick truth... Its a lot more expensive. The good news: its a million times more pleasing than you can ever imagine!

    Feel free to ask anything!
A good place would be to start your own tank thread & ask te questions there! There are a lot of expert reefkeepers on here, & they will be able to answer most, if not all your questions!

    Enjoy!

Careful on what you spend your hard earned cash...get the basics right first before moving onto the advanced technology stuff.

If you start complicated, you might never recover if things go wrong and then you would have spent alot of money.
