Yes Ryno from TASA. tank is 120x45x80deep. 14mm glass. Dont have any equipment for it yet as its a freshwater tank at the moment. Saving up to get everything by january. Will probably look for 2nd habd hardware as my wallet is thin. Have a 54w quad t5 unit also. But think it isnt good enough will probably get a MH over time. My problem is skimmer chiller ect. I dont really know what i need. Reading the noob threads now.

Well I started the hard way and bought a 220lt Sun Sun fresh water tank and made it work as a marine tank. I am using a cannister filter as a sump just to make things more interesting.

I must admit it was tough and in the first 6 months I lost count how many times I wanted to throw in the towel but here I still am and November this year will be two years my tank has been running for.

If anything I would not suggest what you are planning which does not make sense as I eventually made it work for me. The problem is with my tank is it is easily affected by all kinds of small things. I truly feel a marine tank is first choice with a sump but if you can make a marine tank out of a fresh water tank then go for it sir.

Only advice I can give you is take things extra slowly. Instead of doing the nitrogen cycle for 3 months, do it for 4 possibly. Dont add too many fish, etc.

Otherwise welcome to the site where everyone is always welcome

Good to have you onboard, marines is a dream, imagine a little piece of the ocean in your very own home... But can also get overly addictive  ...but if you start off properly with much needed advice... You can maintain it as a hobby :p

The long wait only gives you more time to prepare for your setup, to read and plan :)

okay sooo.... im going to upload a pic of the tank im going to use in a bit. getting 2 MH units suspended over the tank. now i was wondering. will an Ehein profesional 2228 canister be okay for this tank or should i rather try and go with a sump? also what skimmer ect would be good enough for the tank?
