Hi yes, +/9 ish. I've always kept in the fresh water side, planted tanks and a bit of breading, but recently I bought a whole pile of sea tanks and equipment on an auction so I'm considering using some of it and moving over to the dark side of sea water.
So I have what I thought was 8 Protein skimmers, but a few of them don't look right, bio ball or calcium things??? How do I tell? Do I need all of them for a tank?
The thank I have in mind is a 2mx1mx1m with a sump. I know I need the Protein skimmer but the others?
sorry for the simple questions, I have only worked with co2 in planted fresh water tanks up to now. perhaps you could point me to somewhere on the forum that deals with equipment and essentials. There is a lot of stuff I have that I am not familiar with LOL.
1. Skimmer (best you can afford)
2. Lights, even old secondhand T5. Can later upgrade to Leds when you know what you want and what corals you want to keep.
3. Return pump
4. Power heads
5. Heater
that is the bare essential equipment. To start system, you do not need much else.
First bit of automation you do need
6. Timers for the lights.
