Harlequin Shrimp

    Got an infestation of asterina starfish that are happily munching away at my softies... I live near the beach so providing food for them once they have wiped out the asterinas is not a problem.

    I doubt its the asterina starfish munching your softies. I've seen tanks including mine that have softies and loads of asterina starfish.

    I doubted it at first as well, until I caught them in the act! At 2 in the morning I got up to have a look, there were 2 sitting on the head of my frogspawn, right in there amongst the flesh.

    I did a bit of reading, apparently there are 2 or 3 subspecies that are known to munch euphyllia... :(

    Yep there are many kinds of asterinas, some munch coral and some dont. Best to get rid of them. Saw a harelequin at a LFS in JHB, they are so awesome looking
