Hang on filters?

What sort of hang on filter? do you mean skimmer type or external pump type? it also depends on how big your tank is and what you intend to keep in it.

Those hang on type filters are great for reef tanks, they are perfect for carbon and also for anti-phosphate media.

Sjoe i've spent a lot of cash thus far on a tropical tank and i just want to convert is to marine. Its 100L 3ft tank.Cascade 150 filter i have on now. Then i still need a protein skimmer?

The thing is i dont want a sump and pipes thet look bigger than the tank and i stay in a flat so i cant have a massive sump & pipes n stuff around the tank.

Well if you want fish with a bit of corrals or corrals with a bit of fish you need to do 25% or 50% water change every 2 weeks
just my take on things!! thats with a good hang on filters

NB: just keep the filter clean!

adriaan, if you want a healthy system i think a sump is a must, i know there is exceptions everyone and lots of people have kept marine tanks without sumps, but i think its just the best/"safest" route to go IMO!
