Just dropping by to say, Hi. I'd waited too long to join this forum, but now I have the time to get involved a bit. Looking forward to getting to know some of you.

I've been around for some while on other forums and have been keeping marine animals for over 40 years, having grown-up on the sea. I am currently using pro-biological filter systems and LED lighting, always pushing the envelope.

    Ciao für now,

I can't thank you all enough for the warm welcome. Wow! Are you guys always so much fun?

    Hennie, Tremayn,

as my tank is over 10 years old, at the moment, there are no fotos of its original build, but I'll let you all in on a secret. I am planning a total workover. The reason is, I am doing customer relations work/on-line help on various forums for Vertex, the people who have brought you the Illumina... amongst many other goodies. I'll be rearranging my current set up using the newest technologies for actual real-life, I forgot to feed 'em, dropped the whole bottle in, oh crap, it's leaking, aquarist testing. Other than this helping my CR work, it will give me a great overview on what combines well with what and what doesn't. And that's the trick, isn't it. ( I can hear you, Tremayn 'and expensive. Yeah, I'ld give my right arm for that piece of kit. Cost two right arms.' ;) Just so you know, I bought my Vertex stuff before I took this assignment. Absolutely convinced.)

I've been working with biologically driven system for about 10 years, now, have done a lot of work with vodka and zeovit methods and am now distilling my results to attempt an easy to duplicate, fun system using biopellets as the main filter media. over the years it has become clear to me that I want manic variety in my tank(s), not just sps or fish or inverts. I've connected tanks into one circulation, sort of like refugiums for certain forms that are less compatable, trying to utilize their natural filter/filth properties and create a reproducable synergy. Successes and failures have abounded and now it is time to optimise. With my change over to LED lighting, I feel like I've rediscovered my tank. Heat was always an issue with my halides, changing colour spectrum, uncontrollable light intensity, etc. All of this was playing a much larger role in my enjoyment factor than I realised. Very freeing, these Light Emmiting Diodes. Have you ever noticed how falcons seem to call; 'cree, cree, cree'?

So that you all know, I have a second sign on, 'Jamie@Vertex', which is for sponsor forums and such. I'm not sure how much I can post without breaking some policy, somewhere, but I am not doing this just for the company. I do have a private life, too. And I like it that way. :1:. In any case, I suspect someone will let me know, should I flatten any toes. Not my intention. And ostrich eggs shells are much easier to walk over.

I am running a blog, which address I'll attach to my signature, as soon as I get one.....
