Hairy Pom Pom ??

    Hi didnt see this hairy Pom pom on google, came out of kenyan liverock anybody know it ?
    And will it take another piece of my GBTA if i put it back ?

    i had a similar crab (teddy bear crab) in my live rock. why not sump him until you can properly ID him

    Tks, i have " cupped "him. my nano juwel tank doesnt have a sump .

    LOL , im sure dane would take him, but I think his cool, just dont want him to eat kill !!!

    I will keep you 2 in mind though.

    THanks guys, but the piece of GBTA is ther on the plate next to him, i left full pics and discriptions on another thread " POm pom attacks anamone.

    Pls have a look as hes now in a cup, and i dont want to get rid of him unless i have too .

    I say the other post just now. I think the excerpt from the web site might explain what the crab is doing.

    When choosing an individual make sure that it has hold of one anemone in each pincer. Although it can seemingly replace one if it becomes damaged or lost (the exact mechanism for this is unclear but may involve the crab taking a cutting from a healthy individual) the first moments after introduction will be when this crab is at its most vulnerable and it may need both its stingers to repel any over-inquisitive species. Needless to say this is not a crab for an aquarium containing any fish species likely to bother crustaceans and is best suited to coral rich aquaria with peaceful fish in residence.

    The one that appears 'hairy' is holding 2 small anemones; the other may be trying to get new anemones from your BTA. I would let him have them and see what happens. If you're worried keep them all in the sump and see what happens.

    Yip, but seeing that the hairy one has two allready ill pop him back.
    and leave the piece of anamone wth the other.
