Lower your nitrates and your phosphates, check your parameters.

sounds like you need to give your tank a little more time to have a few more cycles, not sure what lights you're running but a 1 1/2 months I wouldn't try change to many things. Less period the lights are on, nitrates and phosphates, give it a couple more months then you can try a few other methods.

I also use the vodka method and swear by it, it sorted out my green hair algae, however after only 1 1/2 months of cycling I feel its a little too early to be introducing it. ???

If your tank is only one and a half months, id wait it out before trying anything too drastic

Can someone direct me to a link for the vodka dosing method? I've heard there is also a vinegar method?

Your tank is atill very young but I suggest you read up on carbon dosing before you start. Several good articles on the web. Look for Carbon Dosing Randy Holmes Farley on the web. I use vinegar dosing and have not looked back.

Make sure you understand it before dosing.

Thanks for the link, the bacteria bloom scares me completely! My intention is to set up some macroalge in a basket in the sump.

Hopefully that will help, if it doesnt I'll consider the vinegar/vodka dosing.

    Thanks for your help.

With a bacterial bloom just dial back the dose. But if macro algae works then why not. Remember you cannot do both at the same time.
