As they say, all good things come to those who wait. Yes, I did miss the meet on Saturday but as Ginger new I was working ( so if he did not tell you guys - I think he then needs to be fined, payment will be a pot of curry)

A couple of big things happened since I was last around. Big work done in the house, got married and to many other things to mention.

David, if only the cash was available to build on like I want, then the other big comeback tank would have happened. For now I will be happy with what I'm building up. You never know the big dream tank could still happen in the future.

Now that I have my own house ( no make shift excuse for an after Saturday reef meet - to continue it further on a balcony in a flat)

As soon as the tank is up and running, I will host a get together/meeting at my place.

Why is it so hard to clean a tank that has been standing for so. I want to get it started now.

Agreed. Not my old tank, both of those where cleaned before stored.
This is a new tank to me and was not clean. Will post pics of before and after was I have finished cleaning it.

Question: What would be the best and safest way to reove paint off the back of a tank? Previous owner painted the back of the tank black.

    Outside the tank hopefully...

Use a carpet knife blade. Scrape it off.

Luckily it is on the outside. A blade seems to work in places, thought about maybe using paint stipper to help. Maybe I must just clean the bad parts and repaint as it will hide the pluming away.

Bloody painful, stripper all the old paint of the stand now, made height adjustable feet.
Now to start painting the stand. Would you say its necessary to paint the galvanized stand with NS4 first before painting with Hammerite .

    I would.
If you don't use ns4 make sure the paint you are using can be applied to galvanizing.

Stand is now completely stripped of all the old paint, now to give a clean with acetone and get ready to paint.
