I notice strange finger-like growth from a lumo GSP colony. Is this normal? Is it safe to frag the bits sticking out?

I'd frag those bits off if I were you. Just a suggestion: Gsp is known to take over all the rock work and to some it actually becomes a weed, have you thought of keeping you star polyps "isolated" so the don't spread over everything? Nice clean tank btw.

Those finger like growth's is its way of spreading. If you do not want your whole rock work to be consumed by it, id advise that you isolate the LR piece on the sand, as GSP canot grow on sand.

Then you can add a small pice of LR rubble or tile next to it, and within a week or so the GSP will have attached to it aswell. Then simply cut off the new piece and presto, new frag!!

Cut those finger like pieces off and glue them to some smaller rock and they'll grow onto those rocks in a few weeks

How "Agro" are star polyps really? Say I have only softies ( like toadstools, pincushions, finger leathers, etc), and I let green/gold/ daisy etc star ploys go wild over the rock work, will they have a negative impact on the softies? I' trying to find something other that corraline to cover the rock work.
