Grouper ID please!

    Hi guys caught this guy at Manaba Beach, any possible ID? It started out black with yellow dots, then changed to this colour pattern, and this "broken lines" is now changing into solid white ones.

    Sorry for the poor picture quality used my phone and this bugger won't pose as well!:) He will be moving to a bigger fish only home soon as he is growing at a phenominal rate!

    dont know man...i looked in 3 diff ooks and that is the only one that looks near it

    Yip think so, I've seen it open it's mouth... holy moley it could fit something twice his size!!!:lol: It also has the typical grouper body type. Do you have something else in mind? Googled it, could be one by slim chance- would like it to be one!

    This one will go with a Lion and stonefish, will see what else will survive withe these guys.;)

    i'm scanning threw the fish atlas but i cant say....this book only gives adult coloration...and yours looks like a juv

    yip thats the only one i could also find...wierd...but it doesn't look like it

    Yes this is still a juvenile, he was about 1.5cm when I caught him and has grown to about 2.5-3 cm's in a month! I believe you could very well be right, had a good look at him last night and it looks like it is developing more stripes. I will try to catch a pic of him over the weekend for comparison to this older pics.

    The lined spots have almost allready changed into solid yellow/white lines. It is also developing more spots that I believe will change into stripes. Will be interesting to see what this will grow into- unless it turns out to be a 2m monster:unsure:
