Got this guy recently. Love it. I was worried that it was dyed and talked to the lfs about it. The bottom is tan and the green starts a the outer edge. Hope I isn't dyed.

Hi, is it a leather coral or a pin cushion you bought.

Leather coral. That being said I thought all sarcophyton corals are pincushions/leathers but the polyp and stalk length as well as colour differentiate the species.

That's great news. Is the polyps on yours more widely spaced than a usual pincushion? Can you post a pic of it please?

I looked at some interweb pics and I do believe this coral is a Sinularia Dura or Cabbage Leather.

No stalk, multiple folds, short polyps extending only a few mms above the surface.

    View Sinularia dura

    Welcome to Flickr!

The one you have sounds like a pincushion. Not the same as mine. Very nice must try to find out where you bye corals.

Hi @Bendor that is indeed a green cabbage coral not very common to find ,but a beauty to have and just as easy to keep as the brown version.

Sinularia dura. I've got one that is insane neon green. Slower growing than the brown, but the colour is just incredible. You'd think it was dyed, but it's definitely natural. Quite a few are getting imported from Vietnam.
