Hey guys! I would like to know if there are green hornet zoanthids growing on the KZN's coast line. The reason I am asking is because I found something like this (Pic below) on Toti beach, but its mouth is green with much more tentacles and only the tips are green. I will try to post a proper pic of them tomorrow.

Really nice zoas you got there, but I don't think they are the hornets.
How long have they been in your tank?
From what I have seen some of the zoas colour only comes out under good lighting and it takes a while, I have experienced this with some orange and some rainbow coloured zoas that I got from Natal, they were quite dull at first, but after a month in my tank under good lighting they have become the most stunning zoas in my tank. I also think some of the pics you see on the net can be decieving because of lighting, photography and photoshop.

Hey Mc! I do not think they are hornets either, but I like to imagine that they are. They have been in the tank for about 24 hours now. If they are so pretty now then I cannot wait to see the improvement in color after a month or so.

    Hey Frankie,
The Green and Brown Zoas are definately the most common and are generally seen around edges of rockponds and the likes at low tide, especially spring tide (around 9-10 in the morning)
The other colours you have to look a bit harder which includes putting a mask on and looking under ledges, around tidal pools and sometimes they are right in little clumps near the green and browns, but harder to spot when they out the water coz the are normally more closed up!!
My best colour I have at the moment (Don't know all the crazy names the guys are making up!) but it has purple, red, pink, blue all in one!!
Gonna try take some pics of some colours I got maybe start a thread on local zoa colour variations??!:whistling:
