    Welcome!!!!

    What media are you using in the reactors?
    You've got some awesome equipmemt, I would however aim for more liverock.

    Most people say 10% of total volume should be rock. As a rule of thumb anyway.

    Post some pics so we can see your monster system :) :) :)

    looks awesome. very neat. Its quite deep though. Gonna be a mission to reach the bottom when you want to, but otherwise its a great start. great equipment. Hope to see a few more pics. What you planning on stocking? Ill also go for a lil more live rock. Remember you will also add some while you add coral if you not planning on stocking with frags only. oh,and welcome to masa.

    Hello and welcome.
    I would like to see those LED units Aquaray 1000 active. I know LEDs is improving by the day. This is the first deep tank that I see that is setup with LEDs. Those units is comparative to 150W metal halides according to the marketing material I searched. But they do not reflect the wattage per unit.

    The real proof will be the PAR reading taken at the bottom of the tank. If I can remember correctly, PAR at the bottom should be 200 or above to sustain softies. There is somewhere another thread where they did PAR readings but on a 450mm deep tank.

    Anyway, so far, looks like a nice setup.

    Enjoy.

    Well I am still very new to the hobbie and still have lots to learn Below are a few pictures of the last month and its taken time to get this far
    [IMG]

    I have all the controls in a fiberglass box under the tank
    [IMG]

    The sump has the first chamber which has a filtersock on the return and then the water splits into 1/3 Refuge 2/3 main sump with Skimmer and the phosphate and carbon reactors
    [IMG]

    The aquaray leds are awesome and you can see exactly where they will work there best because of the spotlight effect
    [IMG]

    I have also got about 5kg live rock in the refuge and now I am just waiting for the cycle to start

    welcome to masa its great to have you here:)

    thats a lovely looking tank, great build so far.

    im with riaan on the possibility of those LED's not being quite enough for the tank, especially seeings its depth, i would be inclined to supliment that light with some t5's as well to be honest.

    thats a lovely aquascape but i fear it might not be enough live rock for your biological filtrations and i would suggest adding some more. You may get away with it if you run additional filtration like a reactor with bio pellets, but personally I would try add to each stack and increase the amount of LR you have in the system. You could also add a 'rock chamber' with additional LR in the sump area tio help with filtration.

    ps what times tea, seeing as you have a few pots to make it with?

    well Crispin when you are in SA come around I am sure my wife would not mind haveing a cup with a Norwegian. As far as the lights go I do not have access to a PAR meter and the only way we will all know if these LED's can smoke the pipe or walk the walk is to try and see what happens T5 is the backup plan. As far as the amount of live rock goes, I am also going to go minimal on the amount of inhabitants

    LESS IS MORE!!!!!!!

    well my tank has been running for a week now with rock and ammonia has started rising but not alott
    Parameters
    SG =1026
    Temp =25
    NH4= 0.25 mg/l
    NO2= 0
    NO3=0.1ppm
    PO4=0

    Is there something I should add to the water so that I can achieve a good result at the end of the cycle or something that will make my tank cycle properly
