Quite normal, you may get various different stages of green and brown algae over the next few weeks, should all settle down and slowly disappear after a month or two.

Hi viper - I've got same problem with brown algae all of a sudden - not sure why... Have recently added a clown trigger, nemo, 2 bangaii cardinals & regal tang to the existing tank mates .... could this be the problem in that there's now more waste/bacteria?

Can you identify the algae, is it diatoms?

Did you add those fish all at once? If so then you have given the system a bit of a shock by increasing the bioload so much all at once, it should gradually disappear over a couple of weeks as the biological filtration builds up to deal with the increased bioload, can you tell us a bit more about your tank, do you have liverock, skimmer, what pumps are in the tank, type of substrate, tank size etc.
