This crab and I have had a running battle for a few months now.
Spotted him as a very small specimen and watched him grow and grow!:whistling:

Tried numerous attempts to trap him, but it seemed my cleaner shrimps would always get to the bait first:nono:

One night I managed to grab him twice with my tongs, but only succeeded in pulling both his nippers off. At least that made him less dangerous for a while.

So last night after lights out, I spot him again. Looking visibly bigger and with his claws back. Put my pest trap back in the tank, baited with calamari. Must have been right place, right time and he was hungry, within minutes he was heading that way, into the trap frantically trying to get at the bait in the holder (see first pic).

Out he came, much to my relief. Have not knowingly lost a fish to him, but given his size, it was just a matter of time. In fact, the other night something seriously damaged my small local clam, i have a strong suspicion it was this critter.

Where did you buy that trap? Looks like it would work much much better than the glass/bottle method. Would like to get one...

I did not notice the green lines, like the PETCO link showed.
This crab also had those rear feet shaped like mini flippers, a swimming speces?

Have to admit, dont know a lot about crabs, other than they get big and could hunt my fish/inverts
