This crab and I have had a running battle for a few months now. Spotted him as a very small specimen and watched him grow and grow! Tried numerous attempts to trap him, but it seemed my cleaner shrimps would always get to the bait first:nono: One night I managed to grab him twice with my tongs, but only succeeded in pulling both his nippers off. At least that made him less dangerous for a while. So last night after lights out, I spot him again. Looking visibly bigger and with his claws back. Put my pest trap back in the tank, baited with calamari. Must have been right place, right time and he was hungry, within minutes he was heading that way, into the trap frantically trying to get at the bait in the holder (see first pic). Out he came, much to my relief. Have not knowingly lost a fish to him, but given his size, it was just a matter of time. In fact, the other night something seriously damaged my small local clam, i have a strong suspicion it was this critter. mike mike mike is now taking care of him !
