Looks to me like it could be small sponges.

My tank is fairly new and I only have one piece of live rock with a star polyp. Is it possible for sponges to form by them self all over the show?

Tunicates or commonly known as sea squirts. they are filter feeders and great to have. they have def come from your LR and as the tank is new the nutrient levels are probably highish and thus they are breeding. you will find them mainly in low light and flow areas.

Ascidians are a class in the subphylum Tunicata... I have a feeling it belongs in that Class of beasts...

My synonym for any animal

Haha, no I think they are fine, and probably beneficial as they filter feed, cleaning your water for you...
