    Need assistant on this one,
My goni coral is just not opening in full.
Have moved it to from high flow to low flow and even tried to move it to more light and then less light. The coral only extends half way. at the lfs it was extended fully and in low flow with not a lot of light. Tried that as well but still only extends half way.

In the other thread you said you got flatworms you sure it's not on the coral because that can cause it aswell

Unfortunately those corals are generally condemned to a slow death as their needs cannot be met. Granted there are certain species that can survive in captivity but we dont get them here. Starvation is the main cause of deaths in goniopora as they steadily decline from their glory in the pet shop to a sad animal. Have you tried feeding the coral with planctonic based foods like cyclopeeze, zooplancton, marine snow etc? This can be done by target feeding the animal through a pipette or turkey baster. This helps and you will be able to see the food being taken in by dark spots going down the tentacle of the goni

What lighting do you have and could you perhaps take a picture of the animal and post it on the forum? The coral could be bleached from a sudden change in parameters and lighting changes. Like the other guys mentioned there could be flatworms or something irritating it

Agreed! These unfortunate creatures are condemned to a slow death whenever they are added to a tank (well, to most tanks, that it...). I bought one many years ago before I knew better, and then put a LOT of effort into feeding it phytoplankton after finding out that it had to be fed. The poor thing lasted a year in my tank, but slowly became smaller as it consumed it's own body to stay alive, and eventually starved to death.
