Just wondering,Squimipinnis can be caught along our coast line right? Do they go as far down as Transkei?

    Moolis,

Please make sure that your buyers know (in detail!!!) that Goldies are rather difficult to keep alive long term, as they need to hunt/eat very frequently. Goldies should be fed 6-8 times per day (at least), and that does put additional strain on the filtration system, so that needs to be pretty mature as well.

Although beautiful, and great to have in a group, they should not be sold to beginners, or for keeping in small tanks.

    Hi Hennie

100% - we keep them in our coral aquariums (not for sale - could not catch them:)) and tell the customers exactly what we do.

Their success rates are VERY high and I am confident our advise is good, as we always aspire to;)

These guys are eating : -
frozen - brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, lobster eggs, mussel and blood worm (found this by mistake - should have gone into the freshwater tanks)
Dry food - omega one garlic pellets & first flakes.

Plus they pouch from the other fish sometimes :p

At this moment the Goldie's (that are left) are acclimatised to the point that they eat any food we introduce.

They are such glutinous eaters that they convinced the Bangai cardinals to grab and eat all the foods we feed in the aquarium!!!!:)

    Great teachers;)

Sean, that's a good idea - but I would suggest that one of the tank maintenance guys (Such as Nemo's Janitor), who have vastly more experience with a much greater variety of both fish and new aquarists, would be a better choice for writing such an article.

I love Goldie's so will aways have them - even if I need to give them SPECIAL attention. It is like Sea Horses don't keep them if you do not intend to do the work they require.
