    Howmany roots are there?
    Im getting a 350l tank
and would like to know how big must my sump be
and what must b in it.

I currently have a 150l with the filter built in and the skimmer on top
    so it is low maintenance.
The skimmer filters my tank six times in an hour and the filter fou times.

Going bigger i think wount be so easy and that is 1 of the things i am looking forward to!!!!!

If you are going with sea sand... you have to wash it very thoroughly!! If its not washed properly then you can have phos and sillicets leach back into your system leading to lots off un wanted algaes ect. I would rather go with aragonite(expensive route) Or playsand(cheap route).

Then your sump can never be to big. So go with the biggest size possible!
Then you can either use a "natural" filtration route.(dsb refurgium ect)
Or use the "Hi tech" route.(Np reactor, phos and carbon reactors ect)
All depends on what you want to keep and off course budget.
Every filtration methode has its own pro's and con's.

No it will not. Just wash it a couple of times in a bucket and you're all set.

Playsand is good. I use it in my DSB. Just wash it properly. Washing smaller batches is also easier. Also sheck some garden centres that sell soil etc, they have playsand a lot cheaper than Reggies. Same stuff, and just as dirty.

Im "playing tonight" with the sand and the pipe work on top
If chosen to go with NO sump but have made a small piece of the tank
my filter 1/5 is the ratio. My skimmer will be external and filter
the tank 6/7 times in an hour when done ill upload some pics.
going in a few weeks to P.E and a buddy is going to get us sum purmits to go diving.
so if im luky ill be abol to get some rocks to fill my tank and maybe a fish or too.
