What is the next best brand out there to compare the GLO range lights with, from Hagen...The Marine-Glo(Actinic); Life-Glo (6700K) and the Power-Glo (18000K)...Any one..?? I believe they last for 18 months and more...:1:

Dont waste your money on Glo- go for Geisseman - They cost about R300 per globe and should last 18 months. Reefteks are R120 cheaper than geisseman but only last 8 months and dont have the punch of geisseman.

Let me ask this...the "Spectrum of light" does the Giesman have the same as GLo...besides the kelvin rating? I now the reefteck does not compare...then also on the t8's I use to use Triton globes and need something with the same quality in t5...

Nemos Janitor thankx for this link....I did however make a comparison and the Triton seems to be a combination of the Midday and the Aqua blue from gisman...with only 10000k rating The Triton in the t8 range seem to be the globe to have if one has a t8 fitting...the glo range and gisman is verry much on par exept with the kelvin rating on the (Aqua blue 15000k gisman) and the (Power-Glo 18000k) and the gisman is way cheaper than the glo...am i making the wright comparisons here ? Thanx :1:

Jaco the t5 way more powerfull than t8 bulbs. The Giesemann about the best here in South Africa. Better than the Giesemann would be the Ati bulbs but they not available. The bulbs you talking of was all the rave when I started 13 back.

Jaco it may be correct to say the graphs are similar but there is a big difference in power out put between the T8 and T5

I know they make the GLO tubes in a T5 HO format, I am not sure if they are available in SA currently.

I can say this having started out in marine 13 years ago what we achieved then with the GLO tubes and the Interpet Triton and blue moon was reasonable but looking at today with the Giesemann T5 etc is a huge leap by comparison.

If you have the option of T5 use the Giesemann if you can't the T8's are a last resort but then yes the GLO is a good light but the number of tubes would not justify the cost IMO

The Glo do come in t5's and avail in sa expencive though ...that is what I have at present..it's yust maybe my imagination but the triton seemed more of a white glair... than the t5's a litle yellow without the actnic's presance...what I'm saying is that I want a globe with the same spectrum..I know the t5's is stronger than t8's ...

The Giesemann aquablue + is a very white globe.

    On most 4 globe installations we use 3x aquablue+ & 1 actinic +.

    2 x Aquablue+

    1 x Actinic+ & 1 x Aquablue+
You could also use the Aquapink in place of the Aquablue+ if you want more reds to show.
If you want a blueish light then use the Actinic pure instead of the Aquablue+

The tank will look very underlight with one of each. The Aquablue+ is the power light that gives that crystal white look.

If you do use one of each you might have to go a total of six tubes. ( extra 2 aquablue+)

Yes it will bring out the colours but it wont make a green coral red.

Cost is on par with the aquablue +

Sorry for the delay in reply. I did not see the post until now.

Thats fine ...i just want to enhance the red/ pink corals...the green get its feed from the actnics...

so if i add a 4 globe fitting and put the aqua blue+ and aquapink with a actnic from marineglo and one lifeglo (6700k) in one fitting and two acnics in a double fitting
or (actnic and lifeglo ) would that be right...that is a total of 6 globes..or should i put the pink and aqua+ in the one fitting and the other fitting the 4 glo ones?? i dont want to spend R2500 on a fitting and 2x aquq globe if its not gona do what it is intende to do....the glo globes is only a month old and they are not cheap...and if i do this ..what is the posability that my bubble nenni will move from its place as it has been in it's spot cince i aded it to the tank 14 months ago..?
