I have read through the previous post on glass thickness and have seen that the general consensus of opinion is that for a 1200 x 600 x 600 Rimless tank 12mm thick glass is sufficient and for a 1500 x 600 x 600 Rimless tank 15mm glass is sufficient. I want to build a 1350 x 650 x 600 Rimless tank. 15mm glass is obviously the safest choice, however the question is will 12mm glass be strong enough. I can get 12mm glass at a good price no problem, but 15mm thick not so sure.
If 12mm glass won't work, I may have to go for the 1200 tank.
    Regards,

you will get a safety factor of 4 for the sides, but base will need to be double 10mm or double 12mm

you might get some bowing over 1350

Double 10mm for the base no problem, I am just trying to get an idea of how much bowing I could expect. If I decided to run a 50 x 10 mm brace along the top it would obviously help, but would it be enough to eliminate the deflection?

im not one for double based tanks personally i rather brace around the perimeter in irder to remove a bit of pressure on the base piece as well as create a better bond area for the front glass,

as for bracing at the top i find 80mm bracing to be adequate for tanks or 1.200 long and 600 in width, 50mm in 10mm could work but ive gone to a standard of 80mm. also just being cautious..

better to put as much into secusing the structural integrity of the system as possible as it is afterall a longterm structure which will be under pressure
