Getting Coraline Algae to grow

    Yeah, keep your Mg and Ca levels high and seed from a good source

    Maintaining alkalinity is also important as is spectral output from the bulbs, mostly 20000k seems to assist.

    Best way to get it to grow. Keep your phosphates low
    Ca 380-420
    Alk a bit high 8-10 DKH
    Mg 1300-1400

    thanks, i will do tests tonight, Mg, Ca, Phos and Alk using salifert and post results.
    i have a 10k mh and 10x actinic on my nano, should i put a 20k mh instead?

    Dallas why do you want coralline growth? Although it looks pretty and is a good indication that your water params are good, it decreases the filtration efficacy of the liverock it covers.

    Too true, and then you have to buy the reefdozing urchins :whistling:

    Aswell as sucks up you Ca and Alk.

    coz i have a reef dozing urchin :) and he wants more to eat besides nori
    even the omega one nori :)

    got a long spine in my dsb/sump, he loves it, growing huge
    and a purple rock urchin in my dsb, he has grown too big for it already will move him to my 300L

    I also have a purple rock urchin, he is really good at culling coralline :) and moving LR around :(

    Then you need to take some of the scraping when I clean the glass and it will seed your tank quick, quick
