Someone posted a picture a few months ago of a huge generator that runs everything in his house  On the post he explained the size, rinning cost and stated that it was real silent..... If I remember correct, the price was between R50 000 and R80000.
I know I'm asking for the impossible. But maybe someone remembers ;)

I have a battery backup system that runs the returnpump and Vortech and ivf power stays off whe have a generator, but you need to be at home to start it ....I'm fedup with being stressed out and waiting for Eskom to test my nerves!!!!

Were looking at different options, ie...the Outback system with 12 batteries and maybe adding solar panels, but that would only run critical equipment in the house and tank (no heaters - which I would like to have on backup). Cost round about R50 000.

Or a generator.... Auto cutover....big enough to run the whole house and tank (obviously one would run only critical equipment in the house and tank, but would want to add the heaters/fan or chiller). The bigger the generator the more the noise. It needs to be silent running as we are in an estate. Price would obviously depend on its size and quality!

Anyone ideas or knowledge of such systems?

    Hey @Helga ,,,

You could always look into commercial generator selling companies,,, i'm sure they'll be able to sort you out with a house hold version. We have one at work, and you can barely hear it, when standing right next to it... ;)

The only limiting factor would be the $$$$

@Helga just check with your neighbours before you invest in a generator. We have had a few clients whose body corporate complained about the noise.

Why not do solar power, I was given a price of R125k to run most my house. Can't remember the company name, but sure if you research it won't be as expensive as R80k.

@Nemos Janitor, there is already such a generator in the estate running 2 homes:whistling:..... one massive machine.... I've actually never heard it start up. I'm sure it cost them a fortune...... we would want to go for something smaller ;)

@carloseandrade, we did get quotes from Sinetech in JHB... they do Inerters, battery backup, Outback systems with Solar panels ets. To get away from Eskom and save money one could use the panels to charge the batteries. Their advice was not to totally depend on solar as a backup...

Talk to Bundu Power. They do hybrid systems. A lot of the guys in Moz use them.
